The Chairman,
Ejigbo Community Development Association,
Ejigbo, Lagos State.
Dear Sir,
REQUEST FOR PROVISION OF STREETLIGHTS IN OUR COMMUNITY
On behalf of the residents of Oke-Odo Street, I wish to bring to your attention the urgent need for the provision of streetlights in our community. This request has become necessary due to the increasing cases of insecurity and accidents in the area, which have been worsened by the absence of adequate lighting at night.
Sir, our community has experienced rapid growth in recent years. Many families, businesses, and schools are now established here. Unfortunately, once night falls, the entire area is plunged into darkness because of the lack of functional streetlights. This situation has provided a safe haven for criminals such as robbers and hoodlums who attack unsuspecting residents on their way home from work or evening activities. There have also been several reports of motorcycle accidents caused by poor visibility along the main road.
Apart from security and safety concerns, the absence of streetlights also reduces the beauty and vibrancy of our community. Visitors often complain about the eerie atmosphere at night, which discourages people from moving freely and conducting social or economic activities after sunset. Clearly, this is a major setback for community development.
In view of these challenges, we humbly request that your office provide modern solar-powered streetlights along the major roads and strategic points in Ejigbo. Solar-powered lights will be more sustainable and cost-effective since they do not depend solely on electricity from the national grid. Furthermore, the presence of streetlights will reassure residents of their safety, discourage criminal activities, and create a more welcoming environment for both residents and visitors.
Sir, we also appeal that this project be implemented in phases, beginning with the main road and subsequently extending to the inner streets. If possible, the community youths could be engaged in maintaining the lights to promote a sense of ownership and responsibility.
We are confident that if this request is granted, Ejigbo community will experience improved security, increased economic activity, and an enhanced standard of living. We trust in your dedication to the welfare of the people and believe that you will give this matter the urgent attention it deserves.
Thank you for your anticipated cooperation.
Yours faithfully,
