The Principal,
Great Heights Secondary School,
Ibadan, Oyo State.

Dear Sir,

REQUEST FOR INFORMATION ON RESUMPTION DATE AFTER SCHOOL CLOSURE

I write as a concerned student of Great Heights Secondary School to respectfully request clarification regarding the resumption date following the recent closure of our school.

Sir, you will recall that the school was temporarily shut down last month due to the government’s directive on the renovation of public institutions and the fumigation exercise aimed at improving health and safety standards. Although the closure was necessary and widely supported by parents and students, the lack of official communication about the actual resumption date has left many of us anxious and uncertain.

As diligent students preparing for forthcoming examinations, we are particularly worried about the academic time we are losing. Many of us in the final year are preparing for WAEC and NECO examinations, and every week of delay places us under more pressure. Although some students have attempted to continue learning individually at home, the absence of structured lessons and teacher guidance has created significant gaps in our studies.

Furthermore, parents and guardians are becoming increasingly concerned. They are unable to plan properly for their children’s return to school because they do not know the exact date when normal activities will resume. This uncertainty has caused undue stress and confusion for many families in the community.

In view of these concerns, I humbly appeal that your office provide students and parents with an official statement on the new resumption date. Such clarification will help us prepare adequately, both academically and materially, for the continuation of the school term.

If possible, Sir, we would also appreciate it if the school could provide a catch-up programme or extra classes for the time lost during the closure. This will enable students, especially those in examination classes, to cover the syllabus more effectively and regain confidence before their external examinations.

We are confident that, as a dedicated principal, you will recognize the urgency of this request and act promptly to address our concerns. A timely announcement will reassure students, restore order, and strengthen the trust of parents in the school’s management.

Thank you for your kind attention.

Yours faithfully,
