The Principal,
Government Secondary School,
Ibadan, Oyo State.
Dear Sir,
REQUEST FOR PERMISSION TO GO ON A STUDY TOUR
I write on behalf of the members of the Science Club of our school to humbly seek your kind permission to embark on a study tour to the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA), Ibadan, scheduled for the second week of October, 2025.
The purpose of this proposed tour is to expose students practically to modern methods of agricultural research, crop production, and soil management. We have been taught these topics extensively in class, but a direct encounter with real-life experiments and agricultural technologies will broaden our understanding and make the lessons more meaningful.
Sir, we have chosen IITA as the destination because it is an internationally recognized centre for agricultural research. During our visit, students will have the opportunity to interact with experts, observe laboratory processes, and see improved crop varieties. We strongly believe that this exposure will not only enrich our academic knowledge but also inspire us to consider careers in agricultural science.
In preparation for this tour, the executives of the Science Club have contacted the management of IITA, and they have kindly agreed to receive us on the proposed date. They have also promised to assign a research officer to take us around their facilities. To cover transportation, feeding, and logistics, we have agreed to contribute a small fee per student, while the club has set aside some funds from our annual dues.
We assure you, Sir, that adequate arrangements will be made to maintain discipline and orderliness throughout the trip. Our club patrons, Mr. Adeyemi and Mrs. Oladipo, have agreed to accompany us and supervise the students closely. We also intend to prepare a detailed report of the tour, which will be submitted to your office and presented to the entire school during assembly.
Sir, we are confident that granting us this permission will further demonstrate the school’s commitment to promoting quality education and exposing students to real-world learning experiences. The benefits of such a tour cannot be overemphasized, as it will make us more resourceful, responsible, and academically sound.
We sincerely appeal for your approval and support to make this tour a reality.
Yours faithfully,
(Signature)
