Dear Sir,
REQUEST FOR SCHOLARSHIP FOR FURTHER STUDIES
I respectfully write to apply for a scholarship from your esteemed ministry to enable me to further my studies at the University of Lagos, where I have been offered admission to study Law.
Sir, I am a recent graduate of Victory College, Akure, where I obtained excellent results in the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE). I scored distinctions in English Language, Literature-in-English, Government, and other relevant subjects. These results, together with my strong academic background, earned me admission into the Faculty of Law at the University of Lagos for the 2025/2026 academic session.
While I am enthusiastic about pursuing my dream of becoming a lawyer, I am faced with serious financial constraints. My father, who was the breadwinner of the family, passed away two years ago. Since then, my mother has struggled to support me and my three younger siblings through petty trading. Despite her best efforts, it has become increasingly difficult to raise the necessary funds to pay for tuition, accommodation, and study materials at the university level.
Sir, it is on this ground that I am humbly appealing for financial assistance through your scholarship scheme. I am determined to study diligently and to make good use of any opportunity given to me. My academic track record, coupled with my active participation in debate competitions and student leadership during my secondary school days, demonstrates my commitment to excellence and service.
If granted this scholarship, I assure you that I will maintain high academic standards, remain of good conduct, and contribute meaningfully to the development of society. My long-term ambition is to specialize in Human Rights Law so that I can give a voice to the less privileged in our society and support the government’s efforts in upholding justice.
Attached to this application are copies of my admission letter, WASSCE result, and testimonial from my school principal for your kind consideration.
I humbly appeal that my request be given favorable attention, and I sincerely look forward to your positive response. Thank you for your anticipated assistance.
Yours faithfully,
(Signature)
