Dear Sir,
REQUEST FOR PROVISION OF VOCATIONAL TRAINING FOR YOUTHS IN ODO-ONA COMMUNITY
On behalf of the youths of Odo-Ona Community in Ibadan, I write to humbly request the provision of vocational training programmes to empower young people in our area with practical skills for sustainable livelihoods.
Sir, unemployment among the youths in our community has reached an alarming level. Many school leavers and graduates are idle due to the absence of job opportunities. This situation has forced some of them into social vices such as internet fraud, drug abuse, and petty crime. We strongly believe that introducing vocational training will redirect their energy into more productive ventures.
The community has a large number of young men and women who are eager to learn trades such as tailoring, carpentry, hairdressing, catering, welding, computer operations, and electrical works. However, there are no functional skill acquisition centres in our locality, and private training centres are often too expensive for the average family to afford. As a result, many youths remain unskilled and dependent on others for survival.
Providing vocational training will not only equip them with useful skills but will also reduce unemployment, improve the economy of the community, and promote self-reliance. For example, trained tailors can set up fashion shops, welders can support construction projects, while trained caterers can provide services for events. These small businesses, when multiplied, will boost local development and reduce the burden of joblessness.
We are confident that your ministry, which is committed to employment generation and youth empowerment, has the resources and expertise to implement this request. The community is willing to provide land and space where training centres can be established. We also have local artisans and professionals who are ready to collaborate with the ministry in training the youths once the facilities and equipment are provided.
Sir, we humbly appeal that Odo-Ona Community be considered for inclusion in the next phase of government vocational training programmes. This initiative will go a long way in curbing unemployment and giving young people hope for a brighter future.
Thank you for your anticipated positive response.
Yours faithfully,
