REPORT ON THE CHALLENGES FACING BRIGHT FUTURE COLLEGE, KADUNA
By Ibrahim Sule, School Prefect
Introduction
I am writing on behalf of the students of Bright Future College, Kaduna, to present a detailed report to the Ministry of Education on the various challenges affecting the school’s academic and administrative operations. This report is based on observations and complaints received from both students and staff.
Major Challenges Identified
- Inadequate Classroom Facilities
Many classrooms are overcrowded, making learning uncomfortable. Some blocks are dilapidated, with broken doors, windows, and poor seating arrangements, hindering effective teaching and learning. - Poor Sanitary Conditions
The toilets are insufficient and poorly maintained. Drainages are often blocked, creating unhygienic conditions that could lead to health hazards. - Insufficient Learning Materials
Textbooks, reference books, and laboratory equipment are inadequate. Science labs lack essential apparatus, and the library is understocked, making it difficult for students to conduct research. - Inadequate Staff Strength
There is a shortage of qualified teachers, particularly in core subjects such as Mathematics, Physics, and English Language. This affects curriculum delivery and student performance. - Power and Internet Challenges
Frequent power outages hinder the use of modern teaching aids. The school internet is slow and often unavailable, limiting access to online resources. - Poor Security Measures
The school lacks adequate security personnel and surveillance, which increases the risk of theft and vandalism. - Lack of Recreational Facilities
Students have limited access to sports equipment and playgrounds. This affects physical fitness and reduces participation in extracurricular activities.
Recommendations
- Classroom Renovation: Repair and expand classroom blocks to reduce overcrowding.
- Sanitation Improvement: Provide more toilets, repair blocked drainages, and enforce regular cleaning.
- Provision of Learning Materials: Supply sufficient textbooks, laboratory equipment, and library books.
- Recruitment of Teachers: Employ more qualified teachers in core subjects.
- Power and Internet Solutions: Install backup generators and upgrade the internet infrastructure.
- Enhanced Security: Employ trained security personnel and install CCTV cameras in strategic locations.
- Development of Recreational Facilities: Provide sports equipment and maintain playgrounds.
Conclusion
Bright Future College has the potential to excel academically and morally. However, the above challenges, if not addressed urgently, will continue to hinder the school’s progress. We appeal to the Ministry of Education for immediate intervention to improve the learning environment for the benefit of students and staff alike.
Respectfully submitted,
Ibrahim Sule
School Prefect
