Dear Femi,
How are you, my dear friend? I hope all is well with you and your family. I cannot wait to tell you about my first day in secondary school—it was a mixture of excitement, nervousness, and curiosity. You will enjoy reading about everything that happened.
The day began very early. My father woke me up at 5:30 a.m., and I dressed in my neat school uniform, making sure that everything was perfect. I was both anxious and thrilled because this was a completely new environment, and I had no idea what to expect.
Upon arriving at the school, I was amazed at how large and clean it looked. There were many students moving in different directions, chatting and laughing. The school compound was decorated with banners welcoming the new students, and the teachers were already at their posts, guiding everyone. I felt a little overwhelmed, but I reminded myself to stay calm.
We were assembled in the school hall for orientation. The principal gave a brief welcome speech and introduced the staff. I was fascinated by the discipline in the school and the way the students carried themselves. Some older students volunteered as guides to help us find our classrooms, and I was lucky to meet a friendly one named Tunde, who promised to show me around.
Classes began shortly after. I found the classrooms bigger than I expected, with well-arranged desks and notice boards. The teachers were polite but firm, and they encouraged us to participate in class activities. I was especially happy when I was able to answer a question correctly in Mathematics—it boosted my confidence immediately.
During the break, I made a few new friends. We shared our experiences, talked about our previous schools, and even laughed at our first impressions of the new environment. I also explored the library and was excited to see so many interesting books I could read.
By the end of the day, I felt proud of myself for adapting to the new environment so quickly. Although I was initially nervous, I discovered that secondary school can be both fun and educational. I am now looking forward to making more friends, learning new subjects, and participating in school activities.
Femi, I hope your first day at secondary school was equally exciting. I cannot wait to hear all about it from you. Please write back soon and tell me everything.
Yours lovingly,
Adebayo
