Dear Bolaji,

How are you doing, my dear friend? It has been a while since we last saw each other at the debate competition between our schools. I hope your studies are going smoothly. I am writing to share with you the exciting details of our school’s recent inter-house sports competition, which turned out to be one of the most colourful events of the term.

The competition was held on Friday, 12th September, at our school’s sports field. Preparations had been going on for weeks, and you can imagine the level of excitement among the students. We have four houses in our school—Red, Blue, Green, and Yellow—and each was determined to win the championship trophy.

On the morning of the event, the school compound was decorated with flags and banners in different house colours. Parents, teachers, and even old students came to witness the event. A local traditional band entertained the guests while everyone settled down. The principal officially declared the competition open, and the atmosphere was filled with cheers and anticipation.

The events kicked off with the march past. Each house marched smartly before the invited dignitaries. Green House, to which I belong, received loud applause for our neat uniforms and well-coordinated steps. After the march past, the athletic events began in earnest.

There were several races, including 100 metres, 200 metres, and 400 metres. The highlight was the relay race, where the excitement reached its peak as the athletes ran with speed and determination. To my delight, Green House won the relay race, and I was part of the cheering squad, shouting at the top of my voice.

Apart from the races, there were field events such as long jump, high jump, javelin, and discus throw. The spectators were thrilled, especially during the high jump when one of the competitors cleared the bar in a dramatic style. For fun, there were novelty races like the sack race and the three-legged race, which made everyone laugh heartily.

At the end of the day, points were collated. To our joy, Green House emerged as the overall winner, while Blue House came second. We were over the moon when our house captain lifted the championship trophy, and our victory song filled the air.

The event ended with closing remarks from the principal, who praised the students for their discipline and sportsmanship. It was truly an unforgettable day, filled with fun, excitement, and healthy competition.

Bolaji, I sincerely wish you had been there to witness it all. Please write back soon and tell me about the activities in your school too.

Extend my regards to your family.

Yours sincerely,
Adetola
