Dear Brother Tunde,
How are you doing over there in Canada? I hope you are enjoying good health and making progress in your studies. We miss you dearly here at home, and not a day goes by without someone mentioning your name. It has been a while since you last wrote to us, so I thought it wise to give you an update on the latest happenings in our family.
To begin with, Daddy has finally retired from the civil service after thirty-five years of meritorious service. The retirement ceremony was a colourful one, attended by colleagues, friends, and family members. He was showered with gifts, and his farewell speech was both emotional and inspiring. Though he sometimes complains of boredom at home, he is gradually adjusting and has even started a small poultry business to keep himself busy.
Mummy, on the other hand, is still full of energy. She has expanded her shop and now deals in wholesale goods in addition to retail. Her hard work and determination continue to inspire us all. She often talks about you and prays for your success daily. She said I should remind you to eat well and dress warmly since the weather abroad is quite different from ours.
As for our siblings, you would be glad to hear that everyone is doing well. Bimpe has gained admission into the university to study Medicine. She was overjoyed when the admission letter came in, and she cannot stop thanking you for the words of encouragement you gave her during your last call. Kunle is preparing for his WAEC examination, and although he sometimes struggles with Mathematics, he is putting in more effort with the help of a private tutor. Our little sister, Funmi, is growing fast. She recently won a prize in her school’s cultural day competition, where she danced so beautifully that everyone gave her a standing ovation.
On a personal note, I am coping well with my studies in secondary school. I was made the assistant class prefect this term, a responsibility that has taught me discipline and leadership. I am also improving in my academics, particularly in English Language and Literature.
Brother, we all miss your presence at home—the laughter you bring and the stories you tell. We eagerly look forward to your next holiday so that we can spend time together. Please keep us updated about your life abroad, your studies, and your experiences.
Extend my warm regards to your friends over there. We all send our love and prayers.
Yours lovingly,
Segun
