Dear Chiamaka,
How are you doing? I hope this letter meets you in good health and high spirits. It has been a while since we last exchanged letters, and I have really missed our usual chats about school, hobbies, and the funny little things that happen around us. Today, I decided to write and tell you all about my new school and how I am coping with my studies.
As you know, I recently gained admission into Unity Secondary School here in Akure. At first, I was a bit nervous about moving to a new environment, meeting new people, and adapting to different routines. However, I must say that my first few weeks here have been both exciting and challenging.
The school compound itself is beautiful and spacious. There are well-kept classrooms, a large library filled with interesting books, and science laboratories that make learning practical and fun. The hostel is neat and comfortable, though sharing a room with eight other students has taken some getting used to. The dining hall serves a variety of meals, and even though not every dish is to my taste, I am gradually adjusting to it.
The teachers here are very dedicated. They explain lessons thoroughly and are always willing to give extra help when needed. My favourite teacher so far is Mr. Ade, who teaches English Language. He is humorous, strict, and very knowledgeable. His teaching style makes learning enjoyable, and I often look forward to his classes. Mathematics, on the other hand, is still a bit tough for me, but I have promised myself to work harder by attending extra lessons and doing more practice questions.
Making new friends has also been a good experience. My classmates are welcoming, and they often include me in group discussions and sports. We play football during break time, and I have already joined the Literary and Debating Society. This has helped me improve my confidence in speaking before an audience.
Although everything seems to be going well, I sometimes miss my old school, especially because I am not yet fully used to the rules here. The strict punctuality requirement and constant prep time in the evenings leave me with very little free time. Nevertheless, I know these rules are meant to help us become more disciplined.
In conclusion, my new school has been a blessing. I am coping quite well with my studies and gradually settling into the new environment. Please write back soon and tell me all about your school too. I am eager to know how you are doing.
Give my regards to your parents and younger brother.
Yours sincerely,
Precious
