23rd September, 2025.
The Chairman,
Abeokuta South Local Government Area,
Ogun State.
Dear Sir,
REQUEST FOR THE PROVISION OF A MOTORABLE ROAD TO OKE-ODO COMMUNITY
On behalf of the residents of Oke-Odo Community in Abeokuta, I humbly write to bring to your attention the deplorable condition of the only access road linking our community to the main town, and to appeal for urgent government intervention in making the road motorable.
For the past five years, the Oke-Odo Road has remained in a terrible state of disrepair. The road is full of deep potholes, gullies, and uneven surfaces, making it almost impassable, especially during the rainy season. Vehicles get stuck frequently, and pedestrians have to wade through muddy waters just to reach the main town.
This situation has created untold hardship for the people of our community. Farmers, who form the majority of residents, find it extremely difficult to transport their farm produce to markets in Abeokuta. Many of their goods get damaged or wasted because of the delay and difficulties caused by the bad road. Traders and artisans also suffer losses as customers are discouraged from visiting the community due to poor accessibility.
Moreover, the poor state of the road has affected education and health services. Pupils and students who attend schools in town often arrive late and exhausted, while sick patients sometimes die on the way to the hospital because vehicles cannot move smoothly. Pregnant women, in particular, are at great risk when being rushed for delivery.
Sir, we are aware of your administration’s commitment to improving infrastructure within the local government. The people of Oke-Odo have faith in your leadership and believe that our community deserves attention. A motorable road will not only ease the movement of people and goods but will also enhance economic growth, reduce rural-urban migration, and improve the overall standard of living.
We therefore appeal to you to kindly include the rehabilitation and construction of the Oke-Odo Road in the next local government budget. Even temporary palliative measures such as grading, filling potholes, and providing drainage would go a long way while awaiting a permanent solution.
We sincerely hope that our humble request will receive your urgent consideration, as the wellbeing and economic survival of our community depend on it.
Thank you for your anticipated cooperation.
Yours faithfully,
