The Chairman,
Omu-Aran Local Government Council,
Kwara State.

Dear Sir,

REQUEST FOR THE PROVISION OF CLEAN DRINKING WATER IN OMU-ARAN COMMUNITY

On behalf of the residents of Omu-Aran Community, I wish to bring to your notice the urgent need for the provision of clean and safe drinking water in our area. The situation has reached a critical stage, as many families are now compelled to rely on unsafe sources of water, thereby exposing themselves to serious health hazards.

Sir, for many years, our community has depended on shallow wells, streams, and rainwater for daily use. Unfortunately, most of these sources are no longer reliable. The streams have become heavily polluted due to human and industrial activities, while the shallow wells often dry up during the dry season. Consequently, residents are left with little or no option but to consume contaminated water, which has led to frequent outbreaks of waterborne diseases such as cholera, dysentery, and typhoid fever.

This dire situation has placed a heavy burden on families who spend much of their meagre income on medical treatment. School children also suffer, as sicknesses caused by unsafe water often keep them away from school, thereby affecting their academic performance. Clearly, the lack of clean water is not only a health challenge but also a developmental setback for our community.

In view of the above, we humbly appeal to the Local Government Council to come to our aid by providing modern boreholes and water treatment facilities. Solar-powered boreholes, in particular, would be more sustainable, as they will ensure a constant supply of water even in areas not connected to the electricity grid. The council could also partner with relevant government agencies and non-governmental organizations to make this project a reality.

We also suggest that the project be implemented in phases, beginning with the most populated areas before extending to other parts of the community. Our youths and community leaders are willing to support this initiative by assisting in the monitoring and maintenance of the facilities, ensuring that they are used responsibly and preserved for future generations.

Sir, we believe that if this request is granted, the health, productivity, and overall wellbeing of our people will improve greatly. The provision of clean drinking water will reduce sicknesses, lower medical costs, and promote economic and educational progress in Omu-Aran.

We therefore appeal to your office to give this matter urgent and favourable consideration.

Thank you for your usual cooperation.

Yours faithfully,
